The Brighton community is committed to protecting kids from the dangers of tobacco!

One of the best ways to protect youth is to limit underage access to tobacco products. Colorado research shows that more than 68 percent of youth under the age of 18 who attempt to buy tobacco products can complete the transaction. This is why TobaccoFree303 partner, the Shopneck Boys and Girls Club, is leading a group of concerned residents asking for a Retail Sales License in the City of Brighton.

In Colorado, you do not need a license to sell tobacco products, unlike all other age-restricted and potentially harmful products. Even plenty of non-harmful products require a license. In fact, in the City of Brighton you have to have a license to operate a public pinball machine or jukebox! But not tobacco or nicotine products. Does that sound wrong to you? We agree.

A Retail Tobacco Sales License allows the City of Brighton to better control the sales of this deadly product in their community and enforce age restriction laws at the local level.
